1. Jávea to Cap de la Nau: Cliffside Ride to the Lighthouse
Start point: Arenal Beach promenade or Jávea’s old port

This route is a favourite for its combination of elevation, tranquility, and stunning Mediterranean views. Begin from either the beach or the port and follow signs for Cap de la Nau also known as Cabo de la Nao. You’ll ride along the CV-742, a road that gently climbs through residential zones framed by pine trees and whitewashed villas.

The higher you go, the more impressive the sea views become. The road narrows and hugs the cliffs, revealing sheer drop-offs and open vistas over the sparkling coastline. Your endpoint is the Cap de la Nau lighthouse a dramatic spot with panoramic views over sea caves, cliffs, and the wide blue horizon.

There’s a small café at the top (open seasonally), so you can enjoy a refreshment before rolling effortlessly back down into town.

Bike type: Road bike, gravel bike, or e-bike
Level: Moderate steady elevation, well-maintained roads
Recommended for: Riders with moderate fitness, e-bike users, experienced leisure cyclists
Not ideal for: Beginners or city bikes, due to continuous climbing

2. Granadella Forest Loop: Shaded Roads and a Secret Cove:

Start point: Jávea old town or Arenal Beach

For those who love green surroundings, quiet roads, and the promise of a swim at the end, this ride is a must. From town, head out along the CV-742 and take Carrer del Portitxol into the wooded hills. The road narrows as it enters the Granadella forest, with tall pines providing shade and the occasional steep section keeping things interesting.

Eventually, you’ll reach Cala Granadella — a small, pebbled cove with impossibly clear water. Park your bike and follow the path down to the beach. It’s a peaceful spot, perfect for a cooling swim before the ride back.

You can return via the same route, or if you’re feeling adventurous, loop back on scenic backroads through the forest.

Bike type: Gravel bike, mountain bike, or e-bike
Level: Moderate mix of paved roads and forest paths
