Discover the diverse landscapes of Dénia by bike
Whether you’re a seasoned cyclist or someone who just wants to explore the area at a slower pace, Dénia offers something special for every rider. Tucked between the Montgó mountain and the shimmering Mediterranean, this coastal town is not only rich in culture and cuisine, but also in bike-friendly routes that invite you to explore beyond the beachfront.
In this blog, we’ll take you through three carefully selected routes that showcase the beauty of the region. From an easy coastal spin along Las Rotas to a scenic ride into the countryside ending at a local market, and even a moderate climb into Montgó Natural Park for the more adventurouse each route is unique, rewarding, and best enjoyed at your own pace.
1. Dénia to Jesús Pobre: Inland Escape Through Orange Groves
Start point: Begin at Dénia’s marina or anywhere along the main promenade.
2. Dénia to Montgó Natural Park:
Start point: Dénia town centre or the marina
This route offers a change of scenery and a touch of adventure. Head out of Dénia towards the CV-736 and follow signs for Montgó Natural Park. Almost immediately, the urban surroundings give way to countryside filled with olive and lemon groves.
The road starts to climb gently, and before long, the impressive limestone face of Montgó looms into view. You’ll be riding at the base of one of the most iconic natural landmarks in the region. It’s peaceful, quiet, and the views become more dramatic with every kilometre.
Feeling ambitious? There’s an optional detour to the Montgó summit trailhead. It’s a tougher climb with steeper sections, but the panoramic views at the top are worth the effort.
The return leg descends through quiet lanes with glimpses of the sea in the distance — a peaceful end to a satisfying ride.
Bike type: Road bike, gravel bike, or e-bike
Level: Moderate climbs, good surfaces
Recommended for: Riders with some experience or fitness, e-bike users who want to explore the natural park
Not suitable for: Beginners if the summit trailhead is included in the plan
3. Las Rotas Coastal Ride:
Easy and Scenic
Distance: Approx. 12 km return
Level: Very easy
Start point: Dénia’s marina
If you prefer flat terrain, sea views, and lots of places to stop for a swim or a drink, the Las Rotas ride is your go-to option. This route starts at the marina and follows the coastline south along a paved road that hugs the sea.
You’ll pass rocky coves, charming villas, small beach bars, and sections where the road is car-free. The scenery is stunning the whole way, with turquoise waters and dramatic coastal cliffs that invite plenty of photo stops.
The route ends at Punta Negra, where the paved road finishes. From there, simply turn around and make your way back the same way — or stop for a cold drink on a terrace with a view.
This is one of the most relaxed and beautiful rides you can do in the area, and it’s perfect for all ages and levels.
Bike type: Any bike — even city bikes or rentals
Recommended for: Families, tourists, casual riders, beach lovers
Not suitable for: Riders looking for a challenge
