From sea cliffs to hidden valleys.
If you think Costa Blanca is all about beaches and sangria, you’re in for a surprise. The region is full of natural gems: mountain ranges, lush valleys, wetlands, and sea-view trails. Below is my personal pick of five nature parks per location, each one unique and absolutely worth the detour.
Benidorm
1. Parque de la Sèquia Mare
Urban park with lush trees and trails – a green lung in the middle of Benidorm.
2. Rincon de Loix Nature Walk
A rugged path hugging the northern cliffs of Benidorm. Quiet and wild.
3. Aigüera Park
More urban, but with nature vibes and ideal for short peaceful breaks.
Calpe
1. Penyal d’Ifac Natural Park
An iconic rock rising from the sea. The hike is steep but the view is unforgettable. Climb early to avoid the crowds.
2. Las Salinas de Calpe
Right in town, this salt lake attracts flamingos and other waterbirds. Quiet, especially in the morning.
3. Zona Verde Maryvilla
A hidden green zone with pine trees and peaceful sea views. Great for a picnic.
4. Calalga Forest Park
Small but cozy park with local vegetation, near the beach. Perfect for a shaded stroll.
5. Calpe-Benissa Ecological Trail
Not a park per se, but an incredible cliffside walk through untouched coastline.
Altea
1. Sierra de Bèrnia
A dramatic mountain with hiking routes and tunnels through the rock. Top views.
2. Altea la Vella to Bernia trail
Less traveled path with mountain and sea views. Peaceful and authentic.
3. Sierra de Ferrer
Unknown to many, but full of charm. Great for early morning hikes.
Jávea (Xàbia)
1. Montgó Natural Park
Towering mountain between Jávea and Dénia. Wild, scenic, and ideal for serious hikes.
2. Granadella Forest
A pine forest leading down to a gorgeous bay. Peaceful trails.
3. Cap de Sant Antoni
Cliff-top views, lighthouse ruins, and dramatic sea edges.
4. La Plana
Flat highland area full of pine trees and calm trails. Often overlooked.
5. Cova Tallada route
A unique walk to a sea cave carved into the rock. Bring sturdy shoes!
Denia
1. Montgó Natural Park (north side) Different access than Jávea, with its own special viewpoints and trails. 2. Les Rotes Coastal Trail Rocky path along the sea with crystal-clear water. Nature meets coastline. 3. Marjal Pego-Oliva Natural Park Wetlands full of birds and lush greenery. Great for cycling too. 4. Torre del Gerro Viewpoint Old watchtower with a stunning walk along the cliffs. 5. Torrecremada Park Moraira Torre del Cap d’Or Calm town park with native plants and open space.Albir
1. Serra Gelada Lighthouse Walk
Flat, paved walk to a viewpoint. Spot dolphins if you’re lucky!
2. Serra Gelada Coastal Path
Cliff walk heading toward Benidorm. Tough but rewarding.

Guadalest / Benimantell
1. Embalse de Guadalest
Turquoise reservoir in the mountains. Walk around or just chill.
2. Sierra de Aitana
Highest peak in the area. Pine forests, cliffs, and cool breezes.
3. Serrella Mountains
Wild, remote, and perfect for long hikes.
4. Fonts de l’Algar (nearby)
Beautiful waterfalls and swimming spots. Refreshing and green all year round.
Jalón Valley
1. Jalón Valley Vineyards
Rolling hills and endless vineyards. Beautiful in winter blossom or fall.
2. Sierra de la Solana
Peaceful mountain with almond trees and wide views.
3. Vall de Laguar & Barranc de l’Infern
A valley of stone staircases and silence. Great in spring.
4. Gorgos River Trail
Walk along the riverbed with olive trees, bridges, and birdsong.
Benitachell
1. Cala Moraig Trail
Steep descent to a stunning cove with cliffs.
2. Falla del Moraig (Fault line trail)
Unique geological trail with crazy views.
3. Ruta de los Acantilados
Epic cliff route to Llebeig and beyond.
4. Barranco de la Viuda
A dry gorge with wild plants and rock formations.
5. Puig de la Llorença Nature Route
Quiet peak with Mediterranean flora and fantastic views.
6. Clifftop Route to Benitachell
Dramatic sea views and wild vegetation. A favorite.
7. Cumbre del Sol Natural Area
High clifftop park with spectacular ocean views.
